The Founders

Averjill Lacey, CD

 With over two decades of leadership experience in employer benefits within national hospital systems and consulting for Fortune 100 companies, Averjill brings a wealth of knowledge to the doula landscape. Averjill, The Corporate Doula® is a dedicated doula with extensive training in fertility, birth, and postpartum care.  Compassion, cultural sensitivity, evidence-based care, and advocacy form the foundation of her approach to both her bedside doula care and the co-creation of the Doula Friendly® Initiative.  Alongside her advocacy for hospital doula care, Averjill is deeply committed to improving maternal and infant health at the community level. She participates in Medicaid doula program development, engages with faith communities, and contributes to state and regional grant-funded doula initiatives.

Averjill specializes in program assessment, policy development, and project implementation, offering her expertise to those seeking to integrate doula services successfully as an employer, healthcare facility, or organization. Leveraging her professional background in healthcare delivery, she assists clients in identifying and addressing barriers to effective policy development and execution. 

Driven by a profound sense of purpose, Averjill is dedicated to positively impacting families and providers within birthing spaces each day.

Angela Daniel, MSSW, CD(DONA)

Angela Daniel resides in Gainesville, FL, with her husband and three sons, is a dedicated birth and postpartum doula, childbirth educator, and certified lactation counselor. Angela holds a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Louisville, she is deeply committed to supporting families through their birthing journeys. She is the proud owner of Family Centered Birth Services, offering comprehensive doula support, lactation support, and education to birthing persons. 

Angela is actively engaged in the birthing community, advocating for increased awareness and accessibility to doula services. Her advocacy extends to fostering relationships among birth professionals and facility administrators. Angela's community involvement includes collaborating with organizations supporting abuse survivors, promoting breastfeeding, and advocating for Medicaid access to birth and postpartum doula care. She contributes to state and federal grant development and execution, policy development at various levels, and data driven implementation planning. She is currently serving as the Director of advocacy for DONA International. 

One of Angela’s core beliefs is that every doula is an agent of change. In various advisory capacities, Angela works tirelessly to advance equitable perinatal healthcare. Harnessing her strong background in social work and advocacy she is excited to have co-created the Doula Friendly® Initiative, striving to ensure facilities have the support needed to truly integrate doula care to achieve optimal outcomes.
